Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Sing the praises of the One —

for from that One comes the greatest treasure there is.

Singing the One's praises opens the greatest treasure there is.
The deeper layer

Sing the praises of the One, because that is where the greatest treasure comes from.

This is the Rahao, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. It comes back to the happy heart of things: sing. Rama-ee-aa gun gaa-ee-ai — sing the good qualities of the One, who is in everything.

Param nidhaan means the greatest treasure. It is the peace and closeness found in loving remembering. It is the same "wealth no thief can reach" that runs through Kabir's other songs in this raag. Think of a song stuck happily in your head. No one can take it from you.

Everything else in the shabad flows from this one glad practice. Not chasing heaven. Not fearing hell. Staying even when you gain or lose.

A Question to Sit With

What's a "treasure" you can carry with you everywhere, that never runs out?
