that servant performs the best service, whose heart is filled with the Lord. ||4||1||12||63||

In plain words

Says Kabir: now I see it clearly — the One lives right inside the hearts of the good and loving.

And the finest service anyone can offer flows from a heart where the One already lives.

The One lives inside a loving heart — and from there, everything you do becomes service.
The deeper layer

The One lives in a loving heart, and everything done from there becomes real service.

The last verse brings the whole calm shabad home, right into the heart. Not up in some heaven. Not out at some faraway holy place. Santan ridai majhaar — within the hearts of the saintly, the good and loving people.

Then comes sayvaa, service. The best service is not measured by big, showy deeds. It is measured by whether muraar, the One, lives in the heart that does them. Think of a friend who makes you a simple card with real love, compared with a fancy gift bought without thought.

This is what Kabir is sure of. The sacred is nearest of all, inside a heart made loving. And from there, everything you do becomes service.

A Question to Sit With

How might your everyday actions change if you remembered the One lives right inside you?
