O my mind, vibrate and meditate on the Name of the Lord. You shall cross over the terrifying world-ocean. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I do not know what will become of me. So, my mind, keep the One's name alive -- and you will cross the terrifying ocean of life.

I do not know my future -- but the Name will carry me across.
The deeper layer

The Rahao: honest not-knowing about one's fate, answered by the one reliable thing -- remembrance of the Name -- which carries the soul across the world-ocean. Humility about the future, certainty about the practice.

A Question to Sit With

What do you do when you do not know how things will turn out?
