Even Our Praise Is His Greatness Shining Back

ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਮੈ ਮੂਰਖ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਸਈਆ ॥
mayray raam mai moorakh har raakh mayray gus-ee-aa.
O my Lord, I am so foolish; save me, O my Lord God!
ਜਨ ਕੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਵਡਈਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jan kee upmaa tujheh vad-ee-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Your servant's praise is Your Own Glorious Greatness. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I am so foolish -- save me, my One. Even the praise your servant gives you is really your own greatness shining back.

Even the praise we give the One is the One's own greatness shining back.
The deeper layer

The Rahao: Ram Das's humility (I am foolish) and a subtle theological point -- the servant's praise is itself the One's own greatness (the One praising itself through the devotee). Even devotion is the One's doing (Ik Onkar).

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever felt that something good you did was not really "yours" alone?
