Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Singing the One's praises, through the grace found in good company,
the pull of grabbing desire and hot anger quietly fades.
You come to know the One as always right here, never far.
This is the whole, complete teaching of the true Teacher.
Sant parsaad — grace flows through good company, again. Kaam krodh miteh unmaad names the fading of desire, anger, and the unmaad (frenzy) they stir up — not by force but by the quieting that praise brings. The heart of the verse is sadaa hajoor — the One is ever-present, right here, not a distant power to reach. Guru Arjan calls this the pooran mant, the complete teaching: the One is already near.
Does thinking of the One as near rather than far away change anything for you?
