Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
I have come into Your shelter, whole and perfect One.
Reach out Your hand to the ones You have made.
Reach up like a child — the hand is already extended toward you.
This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line. It is the center of the whole song.
It is a small, trusting prayer. Tao sarnaa-ee pooran naath — I have come to Your shelter, perfect Master. Pooran means whole and complete.
Jant apnay ka-o deejeh haath — give Your hand to the ones You made. Picture a little child in a crowded market, reaching up for a parent's hand.
The reaching feels natural, because the One made us. We are not begging a stranger. We are reaching for a hand that is already held out to us.
A Question to Sit With
Who is someone you can reach out to when you need a hand?
