Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
When the One turns toward me in kindness,
I am made humble, glad to sit low among the good.
Grabbing desire and hot anger leave, and lose their pull,
and the One, like a jewel, comes to live in my heart.
Make a little room, and the One settles in like a jewel come home.
Paarbarahm jab ho-ay da-i-aal — everything begins with grace turning toward us. Its first fruit is humility — gladly becoming ravaal, the dust of good company. Then kaam krodh is tan tay jaa-ay: desire and anger simply leave, making room. And into that room comes raam ratan — the One as a jewel settling into the heart. The jewel does not arrive until the clutter of craving has quietly gone.
A Question to Sit With
What would you need to clear out to make room for something precious?
