O my Beloved, all my strength is Yours — I have nothing else to lean on, and I need nothing else.
Around me the powerful shouted their harsh orders. Inside, I stayed quiet, and held.
When you have nothing else to lean on, leaning fully on the One is enough.
The rahau: aahi mayray thaakur tumraa jor — 'my Lord, Yours is the strength.' In the crush of the moment, with the judge ordering the elephant driven on, Kabir's whole reply is this single leaning. The verse names the one giving the cruel command — but the shabad's target is the cruelty and its blindness, never any faith or people. What it lifts up is where real strength comes from.
A Question to Sit With
Where do you go for strength when everything around you feels loud and out of control?
