The Medicine That Lifts an Ordinary Person

nar tay sur ho-ay jaat nimakh mai satgur buDh sikhlaa-ee.
I have been transformed from a mortal being into an angel, in an instant; the True Guru has taught me this.
nar tay upaj surag ka-o jeeti-o so avkhaDh mai paa-ee. ||1||
Born of human flesh, I have conquered the heavens; such is the medicine I was given. ||1||

In plain words

In a single moment an ordinary person can be lifted higher than they ever imagined — the teacher showed me how.

Born plain and human, I found a medicine that opens the whole sky.

An ordinary person, turning toward the One, can be lifted in a single moment.
The deeper layer

Nar tay sur — from human to something luminous, in a nimakh, the blink of an eye. The avkhadh, the medicine, is the Name and the Guru's teaching. Namdev's emphasis is that this is available to a completely ordinary person born of human flesh — no special birth required. The change is quick not because it is magic but because grace was always near; you simply turned toward it.

A Question to Sit With

What is a small turn of attention that once changed how a whole day felt?
