Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
I make my mind and body into pure little gardens and water them with the deep essence of the One.
Drenched with this essence by grace, the powerful grip of illusion is broken.
A beautiful, homely image: the seeker makes "mind and body into pure little gardens" and irrigates them with the essence of the One. A garden must be watered regularly or it withers; so must the inner life. And what waters it is Har Ras, the deep essence, the taste of the One. Notice what the watering does: "the powerful hold of Maya's corruption is broken." A well-watered garden crowds out the weeds — you don't fight the weeds of attachment so much as cultivate the garden so richly that they lose their room. Tend the inner garden daily with the essence of the One, and illusion's grip simply dries up for lack of ground.
What would it mean to 'water' your inner life regularly? What good things could you grow that would crowd out the weeds?
