Wish Simply to Serve Alongside Good People

I cannot describe Your Glorious Virtues, God; You are the greatest of the great, O Great Primal Lord God.
jan naanak ka-o da-i-aa parabh Dhaarahu ham sayvah tum jan pagay. ||4||4||
Please shower Your Mercy upon servant Nanak, God; I serve at the feet of Yor humble servants. ||4||4||

In plain words

Your goodness is greater than I could ever put into words.

"Be kind to me," the heart asks, "and let me serve alongside good people."

The good is greater than words — and a lovely thing to wish for is simply to serve alongside good people.
The deeper layer

The shabad closes in humble praise and a simple wish: "I cannot describe Your Glorious Virtues... please shower Your Mercy; I serve at the feet of Your humble servants." The deepest wish isn't for greatness but to serve alongside good people. The colophon (||4||4||) closes. For a child: the good is greater than words — and a lovely thing to wish for is simply to serve alongside good people.

A Question to Sit With

What good people would you most like to help and work alongside?
