One Kind Glance Can Turn a Heart Toward the Good

har tum vad agam agochar su-aamee sabh Dhi-aavahi har rurh-nay.
O my Lord and Master, You are great, inaccessible and unfathomable; all meditate on You, O Beautiful Lord.
jin ka-o tumHray vad kataakh hai tay gurmukh har simarnay. ||1||
Those whom You view with Your Great Eye of Grace, meditate on You, Lord, and become Gurmukh. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The good is great and deep — everyone turns toward it, and it is beautiful.

A heart touched by a kind glance turns toward the good and becomes good.

One kind glance can turn a heart toward the good — and the good itself is beautiful.
The deeper layer

The verse: "You are great, inaccessible, unfathomable... Beautiful Lord... those whom You view with Your Great Eye of Grace become Gurmukh." A single kind glance (nadar) turns a heart toward the good. Note the One is called beautiful — a keynote of joy in this raag. For a child: one kind glance can turn a heart toward the good — and the good itself is beautiful.

A Question to Sit With

Has one kind look from someone ever changed how you felt?
