Even Hearing the Good Is Coming Lights You Up

From the Guru, I received news of the Lord's arrival. My mind and body became ecstatic and blissful, hearing of the arrival of the Lord, my Beloved Love, my Lord.
jan naanak har har milay bha-ay galtaan haal nihaal nihaal. ||2||1||7||
Servant Nanak has met with the Lord, Har, Har; he is intoxicated, enraptured, enraptured. ||2||1||7||

In plain words

Wise words told me the good was on its way, and my whole self lit up with gladness.

Meeting it at last, my heart is happily overflowing, overflowing, overflowing.

Even hearing that something good is on its way can light you up — and meeting it makes your heart overflow.
The deeper layer

The Partaal closes in ecstatic reunion: "I received news of the Lord's arrival... my mind and body became ecstatic... intoxicated, enraptured, enraptured." Just hearing the good was coming filled the heart with gladness — and meeting it overflows. The tripled words carry the dance-raag's joy. The colophon (||2||1||7||) closes. For a child: even hearing that something good is on its way can light you up — and meeting it makes your heart overflow.

A Question to Sit With
