The Tree That Drinks Up Thirst

sahj sunn ik birvaa upji-aa Dhartee jalhar sokhi-aa.
In the profound void of intuitive Samaadhi, the one tree rises up; it soaks up the water of desire from the ground.
kahi kabeer ha-o taa kaa sayvak jin ih birvaa daykhi-aa. ||3||6||
Says Kabir, I am the servant of those who have seen this celestial tree. ||3||6||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

In deep, easy stillness, one tree grows up, and it soaks up the water of wanting from the ground.

Kabir says: I am the servant of those who have seen this tree.

Deep calm can quietly soak up the restlessness that wears you out.
The deeper layer

In deep stillness (sahj-sunn) the inner tree rises and 'soaks up the water of desire': the restless thirst is quietly absorbed. The closing bow, a servant to those who have seen it, is a note of humility and fellowship.

A Question to Sit With

What helps quiet the restless wanting-more feeling in you?
