Constantly, continually, chant the Name of the Lord. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

O pretender, let go, let go of your pretending; do not deceive anyone.

Day after day, again and again, take the Naam of the One.

Drop the pretending, and keep something simple and true instead.
The deeper layer

Paakhandee is one who only pretends to be holy. The call is away from show and toward nit niteh, steady daily remembrance of the Name.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line at the centre of the shabad.

A Question to Sit With

Where might you be tempted to put on a show instead of being yourself?
