The Soul Cannot Perish

ਇਹੁ ਤਉ ਰਚਨੁ ਰਚਿਆ ਕਰਤਾਰਿ ॥
ih ta-o rachan rachi-aa kartaar.
The Creator Lord created this creation.
ਆਵਤ ਜਾਵਤ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਅਪਾਰਿ ॥

It comes and goes, subject to the Will of the Infinite Lord.

No one dies; no one is capable of dying.
ਨਹ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਹੋਗੁ ॥੩॥

The soul does not perish; it is imperishable. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The Maker made all of this.

It comes and goes in the flow of the Infinite One's will.

No one dies; no one is able to die.

The soul does not perish. It lasts forever.

The deepest part of you cannot be destroyed.
The deeper layer

The Creator made all of this, it comes and goes in the boundless flow, and the soul does not perish.

Rachan rachi-aa kartaar — the Creator made this creation, and it comes and goes by hukam apaar, the boundless flow. Nah binsai abhinaasee hog — the soul does not perish; it is imperishable. Here is the comfort at the center of the shabad.

A Question to Sit With

What does it feel like to imagine the deepest part of you never ends?
