Verse 18 of 28

Grace Opens the Fourth Door

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਕੁਟੀ ਛੂਟੈ ਚਉਥੈ ਪਦਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥੧੭॥
gur parsaadee tarikutee chhootai cha-uthai pad liv laa-ee. ||17||
By Guru's Grace, this triad is eradicated, and one is lovingly absorbed in the fourth state. ||17||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

By the Guru's grace, the knot of those three forces comes undone.

Then you rest, lovingly, in the fourth place — a still, clear awareness beyond the three.

Beyond the pull of three, there's a still fourth place to rest.
The deeper layer

Gur parsaadee trikutee chhootai — by grace the “triple knot” of the three qualities is untied, and one settles into the chauthaa pad, the fourth state: the still awareness underlying rest, rush and grab. It comes by grace, not force.

A Question to Sit With
