Sikhism·Raag Raamkalee·Shabad 93
Verse 13 of 22

The Friend at the End

ਭਾਣੇ ਤੇ ਸਭਿ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਵੈ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਅੰਤੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਖਾਈ ॥੧੨॥
bhaanay tay sabh sukh paavai santahu antay naam sakhaa-ee. ||12||
One who accepts the Lord's Will obtains total peace, O Saints; in the end, the Naam will be our help and support. ||12||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

O saints, accept the flow of life, and you find complete peace.

In the end, the Naam is our friend and our help.

Peace grows from acceptance, and the Naam is the friend at the end.
The deeper layer

Bhaanay tay sabh sukh — from acceptance, all peace. And antay naam sakhaa-ee: at the end, the Name is the companion. Wealth, status, and even the body are set down; the Name is what the soul carries forward. It is named here as sakhaa — friend, not judge.

A Question to Sit With

Who or what stays with you no matter what changes around you?
