ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੇ ਸਹਜੇ ਮਾਤੇ ਸਹਜੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੀ ॥੫॥
an-din raatay sehjay maatay sehjay ha-umai maaree. ||5||
Those who are imbued with Him night and day, are spontaneously intoxicated with Him; they intuitively conquer their ego. ||5||

Soaked in that love day and night, they grow gently glad — not forcing anything, just at ease.
And in that ease the loud me, me, me quietly loosens and lets go, all by itself.
Ease, not effort, is what finally loosens the grip of the ego.
Sehjay maatay, sehjay haumai maaree — the repeated word is sahaj: natural ease, effortless poise. The ego (haumai, the feeling of being a separate self) is not conquered by force but dissolves in ease. When you are at home in something larger, the grasping self simply has less to hold onto.
A Question to Sit With
Have you noticed a worry let go on its own once you relaxed into something you loved?
