Enshrine love for the True Lord in your mind and body; He is the Liberator from bondage. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Hold the One in your mind, wise one.

Plant love for the true One in your body and mind — it is the One who frees us from every bondage.

The One is the Liberator from bondage — so remembrance isn't a chore but the loosening of whatever chains you.
The deeper layer

The short shabad's Pause line addresses "the wise one" and gives the single instruction: hold the One in mind, plant its love "in your mind and body." And it names the One by what it does — "the Liberator from bondage." All the raag's warnings about the traps of greed and pride, and all its memento-mori, resolve into this: the One is the one who unties what binds us. Remembrance is not a chore but the loosening of chains.

A Question to Sit With

What feels like 'bondage' in your life? What would it mean to bring it to the One who unties?
