Nanak is Your child; You are my mother and father; please, give me Your Name, like milk in my mouth. ||4||3||5||

In plain words

Forever and always, I'm Your child; You're my One, my whole world.

I'm just Your kid — You're my mother and my father. Put Your Name in my mouth like milk.

You are held and fed by something as steady as a parent — you can carry your worries lightly.
The deeper layer

The most tender image in the shabad: the soul as an infant, the One as both mother and father, and the Name as milk in the mouth. It's a picture of total dependence without any anxiety — a nursing baby doesn't worry about where the next meal comes from. Guru Arjan deliberately makes the One parental in both ways at once, refusing to pin the divine to a single role. For children this lands directly: you are held, fed, and safe, and the deepest nourishment is as natural and freely given as a mother's milk.

A Question to Sit With

What does it feel like to be completely taken care of, the way a baby is? Can that feeling stay with you?
