In plain words

Sing about what's good and true, and the sickness inside you starts to lift.

Your face grows bright, your mind gets clear and clean, and you're okay — here, now, and whatever comes next.

Turning your heart toward the good is medicine — and it shows up as light on your face.
The deeper layer

This one says singing about the good works like medicine, and the healing shows on your face.

Neekay gun gaa-o mithee rog — sing the beautiful praises, and the rog, the sickness, goes away. Singing praise is called kirtan. Here it is medicine. That idea runs all through Todee, a raag known for a soothing, healing mood. The sickness is the one inside: restlessness, pride, and forgetting.

Mukh oojal — the face becomes bright. The Gurus often use this sign. What is clear inside shows as light on the face. Think of how a friend's face lights up after they finally make up after a fight.

Tayro rahai eehaa oohaa log — you are kept safe here and there, in this world and the next. So the healing isn't a prize saved for later. It changes how you live, starting now. This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line — the center of the shabad.

A Question to Sit With

Have you noticed how someone's face changes when a weight lifts off them? What lifts your weight?
