In plain words

My mind is pierced through by the Name of the Lord. What else should I think about?

When awareness focuses on the Shabad, happiness wells up. Attuned to God, the most excellent peace is found.

As it pleases You, please save me, Lord. The Name is my only Support.

The mind pierced through by the Name has found its answer — what else is there to contemplate?
The deeper layer

Guru Nanak says the Name has gone straight into his mind like an arrow, and now nothing else needs thinking about.

Raam naam man baydhi-aa means the Lord's Name has pierced my mind. Baydhi-aa means pierced, the way an arrow hits a target. That is not soft language. The Name does not slowly talk you into it. It lands. This is grace arriving all at once, not bit by bit. One shot, and the mind is changed.

Think of the moment a song gets stuck in your head for good. You did not decide it. It just landed there.

Avar ke karee veechaar asks: what else should I think about? A mind hit by the Name has found where it rests.

Sabad surat sukh oopjai means when your attention rests on the Word, happiness wells up. Prabh raata-o sukh saar means filled with love for God, the best peace is found. This is not just sitting back. It is a mind leaning in with loving attention.

Ji-o bhaavai ti-o raakh toon means save me in whatever way pleases You. It is a prayer of trust. Mai har naam adhaar means the Lord's Name is my support. Not a practice, not a place, not a rule. The Name itself holds the soul upright.

A Question to Sit With

Has there been a moment when something lodged in your mind and you knew it had changed you — and what was that like?
