Now, the Merciful Lord has issued His Command.
Let no one chase after and attack anyone else.
Let all abide in peace, under this Benevolent Rule.
This verse paints a picture of peace: the Merciful One has given an order, and no one attacks anyone anymore.
Hun hukam ho-aa miharvaan daa — now the miharvaan, the Merciful One, has given His Hukam, His order. Here the One is known most of all by mercy.
Pai ko-ay na kisai ranjaandaa — let no one chase after or hurt anyone else. Sabh sukhaalee vuthee-aa — let everyone live in peace. Ih ho-aa halaymee raaj — this is a halaymee raaj, a gentle and kind rule.
Earlier in this song, the five rivals inside, like anger and greed, were caught and held. When they are held, the urge to hurt others goes quiet.
Think of a playground where one kind, fair teacher is on duty. The pushing stops. Kids share the swings. It is not because of a scary rule. It is because the whole feeling of the place has changed.
This is a picture of the heart more than of any country. When the Merciful One rules inside us, the wish to strike at someone else fades away, and peace spreads outward.
What would it look like if your inner life was genuinely at peace — if the inner impulses that attack and attack were stilled? What would you do with that peace?
