In plain words

Someone who does not understand the flow of existence — the Hukam — cries out in terrible pain. She is full of deception and she can't sleep in peace.

But the soul-bride who follows the Will of her Lord is honored in her own home and called to His Presence.

By His Mercy, this understanding arrives. Through the Guru's Grace, she is absorbed into the True One.

Resistance to the Hukam creates pain and sleeplessness — alignment with it brings honor in your own home.
The deeper layer

Hukam — the flow of existence

Je ko Hukam na jānai, vikhi'ā vich sohai — "One who does not know the Hukam of the Lord's Command cries out in terrible pain." Hukam is the Guru tradition's term for the divine order — the way things are, the current of existence, the flow that the Lord has set in motion. Not arbitrary commands but the structural reality of how creation works.

The one who does not understand Hukam — who resists it, who fights it, who thinks they can determine how things should be rather than how they are — lives in pain. The pain is the structural consequence of misalignment.

Deception and sleeplessness

Kapat kameenī, na sukh so'e — "she is filled with deception, and she cannot sleep in peace." The deception is the soul's self-deception about its own nature and its relation to the Hukam. The sleeplessness is the natural consequence: a mind in constant resistance cannot rest.

Honored in her own home

Jo Hukam manay sā sardar, Har dar sach so'e — "she who walks in harmony with the Will of her Lord shall be honored in her own home." The recognition comes not by going somewhere else, not by achieving external status, but by living fully in the Lord's Will in the ordinary life she already has. The honor is in her own home — the recognition of what was always already true.

A Question to Sit With

*Is there something in your life that you keep fighting against that might just be the way things are? What would it feel like to accept it instead of fighting it?*
