The spiritually blind are unripe and imperfect, inferior and worthless. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

He Himself is True. Truth is what pleases His Will.

Those who are blind inside are unripe and raw, not yet ready, not yet of worth.

Truth is what pleases the divine — and truth is what ripens you into someone who can meet the divine.
The deeper layer

This is the pause line, the Rahao, the center of the song. It says the One is True, and loves truth.

Aapay sach bhaavai tis sach — He Himself is True, and truth is what pleases Him.

AnDhaa kachaa kach nikach — the one who is blind inside is kachaa, unripe. Think of a green mango on the tree. It is hard and sour. It is not bad. It just isn't ready yet.

Ripening is a patient picture. Fruit ripens in its season, with sun and water, over time. You can't make a mango ripe by yelling at it. But you can give it what it needs.

The spiritual life is like that. We can't rush it. But we can give it the sun and water it needs: truth, the Guru's Word, and good company. Truth is what ripens us into someone ready to meet the One.

A Question to Sit With

What would 'spiritual ripeness' look like for you? What qualities would you have that you don't yet have — or have more of?
