Meet the humble Saints, dear friends. Think on the True Name.
Pack food for the soul's trip. Pack what will go with you, here and beyond.
You get these from the Perfect Guru, when God looks on you with grace.
Those to whom He is kind get His grace.
This verse says: spend time with good, humble people, and pack the Name for your soul's long trip.
Sant janhu mil bhaa-eeho sachaa naam samaal — meet the humble Saints, dear brothers and sisters, and keep the True Name in mind.
Tosaa banDhhu jee-a kaa — pack a tosaa, a bag of supplies, for the soul. Aithai othai naal — the kind that goes with you here and in the world beyond. The soul is on a journey, and a journey needs packing. The supplies are the Name. The Saints are like a shop where those supplies are shared. That is the gift they give to everyone who meets them.
Think of packing for a school camping trip. You don't bring your video games. You bring a warm jacket, a flashlight and water, the things that will really help on the trail.
Gur pooray tay paa-ee-ai apnee nadar nihaal — these supplies come from the Perfect Guru, when God looks on you with nadar, the kind glance of grace. Karam paraapat tis hovai jis no hou-ay da-i-aal — those to whom He is kind receive this gift.
So even the meeting with the Saints is a gift. We can get ready and open our hearts. But the meeting itself comes when the One wills it.
Have you encountered people who gave you something for your soul's journey — something you still carry? Who were they? What did they give?
