By Grace your name is known - so never let the One's name slip from your mind.
By Grace you stand tall in the world - so remember, dear mind, and drop the forgetting.
By Grace things you attempt get completed - know the One close at hand inside every finishing.
By Grace the search finds the Truth. By Grace, in the end, everyone is carried. Nanak says: remember - and let the remembering become your song.
The One was right there inside every success you ever had.
This verse gathers the gifts people see from outside: being known in the world, respect, work that got finished, truth that was found. Over each, the same instruction. And in the middle a new note sounds: tiseh jaan man sadaa hajooray — mind, know the One is always right here.
Jih parsaad tayray kaaraj pooray — by grace your tasks are completed. The things that worked out, the searches that found their answer, did not come from a far-off helper. The Giver was inside the finishing, closer than the work itself. Think of learning to ride a bike with a parent's hand on the seat. You thought you did it alone. The hand was there the whole way.
Then the widest line: jih parsaad sabh kee gat ho-ay — by grace, everyone is set free. Every other line stands under this one like people under one big umbrella.
The mind being spoken to here is called moorh, foolish. All through these eight verses it has been called forgetful, lazy and easily distracted, always with affection. And it too, by grace, can be set free. The practice stays simple: remember, and sing the One's song.
Think of something that finally worked out for you. Can you find the help hidden inside how it happened?
