The Closing Saloks, Savaiye The Ocean of the Guru

Dive deep enough into something real and you come up holding what was there all along.

The Arc

The Teacher is an ocean — deep, wide, without end — and the seeker who dives comes up holding jewels. A stream of sweetness pours from his door, open to all; hold the Name and rest in an undisturbed peace.

Key Vocabulary

udadh gur gahir gambheer — the Teacher, a deep and unfathomable ocean. naam nag heer — the jewels of the Name found in the depths. nirbaan — Nirvana, a peace beyond disturbance.

Themes and Cross-Connections

The treasure was in the depths all along. The paaras and chandan images (gold and fragrance) return once more.

For the Closing Saloks

Translation Notes

Nirbaan noted as a term shared with Buddhist tradition, honored as a genuine pointer to peace.
