The Arc
Before any praise, you bow to the One, the Giver of blessings. Then the song of Guru Nanak begins, and everyone joins it: sages and kings, yogis and gods, the serpent below and the stars above, and the Bhagats Ravidas, Namdev and Kabir. Guru Nanak lives raaj jog, fully in the world and fully joined with the One, and his praise stays fresh every day. Then his hand rests on Lehnaa's forehead, and the light passes: Guru Angad lives like a lotus on the water, wears humility as armor, and bows low like a tree heavy with fruit. Seeing him is worth every pilgrimage. Then the same Naam, which can never be tricked, comes to Guru Amar Das. Patience is his white flag. Feet, hands, tongue, eyes, ears, heart and head all bear fruit when they turn toward him. At the center, the opening line: with one whole mind, meditate on the One before you sing of the Guru.
