In plain words

The One — Krishna, the One who is everywhere — is the Lord of all the gods. And the Lord of the gods is the soul inside.

Whoever knows the secret of the soul and of the Great Lord, Vaasudev, the One who lives in all —

Nanak says: I am the servant of that person, who is like the pure One itself.

Behind every holy thing is one Source — and it lives in you too.
The deeper layer

The One who is the God of all gods is the same One who lives as the soul inside you.

Ayk krisnan ta sarab dayvaa: the One, called here by the name Krishna, the all-pervading, is the Lord of all the gods. Dayv dayvaa ta aatmah: and that Lord of the gods is the aatmaa, the soul. Saree baasavdayv is another name, Vaasudev, the One who dwells in everything.

Whoever knows this secret, that the soul and the Great One are not two, is someone Nanak gladly serves. With this, the four saloks of Guru Nanak come to a close.

A Question to Sit With

Where do you usually look for something holy or special? Could some of it be closer than you think?
