Salok Sehskritee, Salok 68 — Grass Becomes a Mountain
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
A blade of grass becomes a mountain. Dry, bare land turns green.
The one who was drowning swims across. The empty is filled to overflowing.
Millions of suns light up the darkness.
Nanak prays: all this happens when the Guru, the One, becomes kind.
When the One is kind, the smallest, driest, emptiest things are turned around.
Tarin ta mayra — a blade of grass becomes a mountain. Dry land turns green. The one who was sinking swims across. The empty cup is filled until it overflows. The darkness is lit by millions of suns.
All of this happens, says the verse, when the Guru, the One, is kind.
Think of a dark stadium at night. One switch flips, and every light comes on at once. That is what grace is like here. It is not earned. It changes everything. No one is too small, too dry, too empty, or too far in the dark for grace to reach.
What part of you feels small, dry, or stuck right now? Can you imagine it turning green and alive?
