Phunhay, Verse 12 — the true wealth when the restless thieves are gone

mit kaa chit anoop maramm na jaanee-ai.
The Consciousness of my Friend is incomparably beautiful. Its mystery cannot be known.
gaahak gunee apaar so tat pachhaanee-ai.
One who purchases the priceless virtues realizes the essence of reality.
chiteh chit samaa-ay ta hovai rang ghanaa.
When the consciousness is absorbed in the supreme consciousness, great joy and bliss are found.
harihaaN chanchal choreh maar ta paavahi sach Dhanaa. ||12||
O Lord! When the fickle thieves are overcome, the true wealth is obtained. ||12||

In plain words

My Friend's mind is beautiful beyond compare; its secret cannot be known.

Whoever buys the Friend's endless virtues comes to know what is most true.

When my mind melts into that mind, great joy comes.

O Lord! When I overcome the restless thieves inside, I find the wealth that is true.

When the restless thieves inside are overcome, the true wealth is found.
The deeper layer

When the restless thieves inside are overcome, the mind can melt into the One and find true wealth.

Mit kaa chit anoop: the Friend's mind is beyond compare. Maramm na jaanee-ai: its secret cannot be known. Gaahak gunee apaar: the one who comes like a buyer for the Friend's endless virtues comes to know what is most true.

Chiteh chit samaa-ay: when one mind merges into the other, rang ghanaa, deep joy, follows. Chanchal choreh maar: the chanchal thieves are the restless wants that steal our attention. When they are overcome, sach Dhanaa, the true wealth, is found.

A Question to Sit With

What distractions pull at your attention — and what happens when they settle?
