Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The words of the holy are the path of peace. Only by great good karma does someone find them.
Nanak says: singing the praises of the One, the round of birth and death comes to an end.
The words of the holy are a path of peace.
The words of holy people are a road you can walk in peace.
Bachan saaDh sukh panthaa: the words of the holy are the path of peace. Lahanthaa bad karamneh: they are found by great karma. Here karam often means grace, a gift from the One as much as something done.
Rahantaa janam marnayn: the coming and going of birth and death stops. Ramna(n) har keeratneh: through singing the praises of the One.
