Salok Vaaraan Te Vadheek (Mehl 3), Salok 63 — the priceless jewel
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Those who were separated, again and again, are joined back through loving awe of the True Guru.
Turning to the Guru, they meditate on the Naam, and become steady, free of birth and death.
Meeting the Guru in the Sangat of the holy, they find diamonds and jewels.
Nanak says: the ruby is priceless; the Gurmukhs search for it and find it.
Those who drifted away are joined back, and in the Sangat they find a jewel beyond price.
Vichhurh vichhurh jo milay: those separated again and again are united through bhai bhaa-ay, awe and love of the Guru. The awe here is reverent wonder, not fright. Meditating on the Naam, they become nihchal, steady, beyond birth and death.
Gur saaDhoo sangat: the Sangat — people gathered together to remember the One. There heeray ratan, diamonds and jewels, are found. The laal amolkaa, the priceless ruby, is the Naam, and those who turn to the Guru search and find it.
Who are the people who make you want to be more honest and kind?
