A sister calls after her brother — "Brother, stay!" — but he becomes like a stranger.
Her brother sets off for his own home, and she burns with missing him.
Here in this world, her father's house, the young bride loves her Beloved.
If you long for the Beloved, dear bride, then serve the True Guru with love.
Rare are the wise who meet the True Guru and understand.
All greatness is in the Master's hands; the Master gives it to whoever pleases the Master.
Rare is the one who thinks deeply on the Guru's Bani; that person turns toward the Guru.
This is the Bani of the Great One; through it, a person comes to live at home in their own deepest self.
A sister watches her brother leave: everything here parts and passes. The soul-bride in her father's home (this world) longs for the Beloved.
Ih banee mahaa purakh kee — the composition names itself the Bani of the Great One (mahaa purakh); through it one dwells in nij ghar, one's own true home and self.
What helps you love people fully even knowing nothing here lasts forever?
