Blessed, blessed is the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, where the Lord's Essence is obtained. Meeting with His humble servant, O Nanak, the Light of the Naam shines forth. ||4||4||

In plain words

Those humble ones who have found the company of the True Guru — it was written on their foreheads before they were born. This was their destiny.

Blessed is the true congregation, where the essence of the oneness is found. Meeting with the one who carries that essence, the inner light shines.

The capacity to recognise the oneness arrived with you — it was always yours to find.
The deeper layer

The idea of pre-ordained destiny (likhat — what is written) appears throughout Gurbani. It does not mean life is predetermined in a mechanical sense. It means the capacity to recognise the oneness was always within you — it arrived with you. Those who find the Guru, find the Sangat, find the Name — they were not lucky. They were, in some sense, always moving toward this, and the grace was always waiting.

The Sat Sangat — the true congregation — is where the essence of the oneness becomes tangible. Light shines in the presence of others carrying light.

A Question to Sit With

Has something ever happened in your life that felt like it was meant to happen — like you were always going to end up exactly there? What was that experience like?
