The separated ones meet, and by great good fortune, those suffering in separation are reunited once again. ||2||

In plain words

You are the river of life. All living things are within You. There is no one who is outside You.

All living beings are Your playthings — expressions of Your nature.

Those who were separated find their way back. Those who suffered in the pain of separation — by great good fortune — are reunited.

All of life is within the river of the oneness — there is no shore, no outside, no exile.
The deeper layer

The river metaphor is perfect: you cannot step outside a river while you are the river itself. There is no shore from which to observe it. All of creation — every living thing — is within the oneness, not floating alongside it.

The reunion of separated ones speaks to the experience of haumai (ego) — the illusion of separation. When the illusion dissolves, what seemed like a reunion was simply the recognition that the separation was never real. The river was always one river. The wave was always ocean.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever had the experience of feeling suddenly connected to something or someone after feeling distant from them — and it felt like coming home? What happened?
