In plain words

Everyone belongs to You. Everyone is meditating on You — whether they know it or not.

Those who receive the jewel of the Name receive it through Your mercy. The Gurmukh — the one who faces the Guru, faces the source — receives it. The manmukh — the one who faces only themselves, their own ego — loses it.

You Yourself separate them and You Yourself reunite with them again.

Gurmukh faces the source; manmukh faces only the self — and the direction can change at any moment.
The deeper layer

Gurmukh (Guru-facing) and Manmukh (self-facing) are key terms in Gurbani. They are not moral categories — good person vs. bad person. They are directional: which way is your attention facing? Toward the source of everything, or toward the constructed self?

The manmukh is not condemned — even the separation is part of the oneness's play, and the reunion is the oneness bringing itself back to itself. There is no permanent exile. The direction can change at any moment.

A Question to Sit With

Which direction do you think most of your attention faces — outward toward the world and what it thinks of you, or inward toward what you actually are? Can you feel the difference?
