ਤੂੰ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਚਿਆਰੁ ਮੈਡਾ ਸਾਂਈ ॥

too^N kartaa sachiaar maidaa saa^N-ee.

You are the True Creator, my Lord and Master.

ਜੋ ਤਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਥੀਸੀ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਦੇਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਹਉ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

jo ta-o bhaavai so-ee theesee jo too^N deh so-ee ha-o paa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.

Whatever pleases You comes to pass. As You give, so do we receive. ||1||Pause||

The deeper layer

The rahao (pause) shabad at the heart of the composition. It is brief and absolute. Whatever happens is the result of the source's will — Hukam (the flow of existence). This is not fatalism — a passive shrug that nothing matters. It is recognition: the self is not the prime mover. The oneness is. Your role is to receive what flows — openly, with gratitude, without demanding it be different from what it is.
