A Chhant balancing effort and grace. The Shalok opens with a call to action: make the effort, O fortunate ones — remembering brings total peace, pains and doubts departing. Verse 1: don't be lazy about what matters; with every breath worship, and pain and fear lose their grip — closing in a prayer to be linked to service (even effort asked as gift). Verse 2 returns to the anjan (healing eye-ointment) of wisdom that removes the darkness of doubt, so that a moment of the One in the heart makes sorrows forgotten. Verse 3 rests in shelter: grasping the merciful One's protection, where even sinners are saved and so many cross over. Verse 4 closes on bhagat vachhal — the Lover of His devotees, loving by His natural way — revealed wherever the Saints gather in joy, His brilliant flash seen in all ten directions.
