In plain words

The slanderer cries out and wails.

Having forgotten the Supreme One, the slanderer simply reaps what his own actions have sown.

Slander circles back: the one who sows harm reaps it.
The deeper layer

Unkind words come back to the one who says them. What you plant is what you pick.

This is the Rahao, the "pause" line at the center of this short shabad. It is about the nindak, the slanderer. A slanderer is someone who spreads hurtful, untrue talk about good people.

Arrhaavai billaavai nindak — the slanderer ends up crying and wailing. Why? Paarbarahm parmaysar bisri-aa — he has forgotten the Supreme One. Apnaa keetaa paavai nindak — the slanderer gets back what his own actions planted.

It works like a garden. If you plant thorns, you will be picking thorns. The harm he aimed at others lands back on him. Unkind talk defeats itself.

If someone is being unkind to you or hurting you, that is never something you have to accept. Telling a grown-up you trust is always the right thing to do.

A Question to Sit With

Have you noticed how trying to bring others down often brings the person down themselves?
