This puppet of a body was made with wonderful skill —
and be sure of it, it will turn to dust.
Your body is a marvel — and it will turn to dust; both are true at once.
Guru Arjan calls the body a puppet "fashioned with great skill" — a marvel of craftsmanship — and in the same breath names its end: "it shall turn to dust." Both are true at once: the body is wondrous and perishable. Holding both keeps awe free of pride.
