Verse 4 of 5

You Can't Hide From the One Who Provides for You

ਤਿਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਲੂਕ ਜੋ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਸੰਗੀ ॥
tis si-o look jo sad hee sangee.
He tries to hide from the One who is always with him.
ਕਾਮਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਸੋ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਮੰਗੀ ॥੩॥
kaam na aavai so fir fir mangee. ||3||
He begs from Him, again and again. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

He tries to hide from the One who is always right beside him —

and then begs from that very One, again and again.

You can't hide from the One who is always beside you — and that's the very One who provides.
The deeper layer

The comedy of contradiction: "he tries to hide from the One who is always with him," then "begs from Him, again and again." You cannot hide from the omnipresent One, and the One you hide from is the only one who provides. The absurdity is meant to wake the soul to the nearness it keeps ignoring.

A Question to Sit With

Is there something you try to avoid that is actually the very thing that helps you?
