Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

All the heavy loads of birth and death have been lifted off me.

Joining the company of the Saints, my mind came clean; the perfect Guru saved me in an instant.

A weight you've carried for ages can lift in a single instant.
The deeper layer

This is the Rahao, the "pause" line at the center of the shabad. It names the relief.

Janam maran chookay sabh bhaaray — all the heavy loads of birth and death have been lifted.

It happened by joining the Saadh Sangat, the company of good and holy people. There the mind came clean. And look how fast it was: gur poorai lai khin meh taaray — the perfect Guru carried me across in an instant.

A weight you carried for years can drop in one moment, like setting down a heavy backpack at the end of a long hike. Grace is not slow.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever had a burden lift suddenly, faster than you expected?
