My Lord and Master is contained in all. He gives His Gifts to all beings, and cherishes them. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

My mind has become the dust of everyone's feet, and now every person seems a sweet friend to me.

My Lord is held within them all — He gives His gifts to every being, and cherishes them.

Lower yourself to the dust, and suddenly everyone looks like a friend.
The deeper layer

When you stop acting big, everyone starts to look like a friend.

Sabh kee rayn ho-ay rahai manoo-aa — my mind has become the dust under everyone's feet. Saglay deeseh meet pi-aaray — and now everyone looks like a dear friend.

Why does that happen? When your pride comes down, there is no one left to look down on. It is like the moment you stop trying to be the best player on the team. Suddenly you enjoy everyone else's good passes.

And there is a deeper reason. Sabh madhay ravi-aa mayraa thaakur — my Master lives inside everyone. The One gives gifts to every being and cares for each one.

A Question to Sit With

When you've felt most humble, didn't other people become easier to love?
