With every breath and morsel of food, meditate, and chant with your tongue, continually, each and every day; sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Remembering Him, we slip past the messenger of death; here and hereafter, we find peace.

With every breath and every bite, chant with your tongue, day after day, and sing His praises.

Woven through every breath and bite, remembrance slips you right past the fear of death.
The deeper layer

Remembrance disarms death ("we escape from the Messenger of Death") and brings peace "here and hereafter." And the method is the now-familiar continuity: "with every breath and morsel of food... each and every day" — the Name woven through the whole of ordinary life (cf. Shabad 82, Shabad 121).

A Question to Sit With

What good thing could you weave through your most ordinary moments?
