Verse 1 of 5

With the Highest One Yours, What Is Left to Fear?

aasaa mehlaa 5.
Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:
jaa tooN saahib taa bha-o kayhaa ha-o tuDh bin kis saalaahee.
Since You are my Lord and Master, what is there for me to fear? Other than You, who else should I praise?
ayk tooN taa sabh kichh hai mai tuDh bin doojaa naahee. ||1||
You are the One and only, and so do all things exist; without You, there is nothing at all for me. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Since You are my Master, what is there for me to fear? Whom else would I praise but You?

You alone are, and through You everything exists; without You, there is nothing at all for me.

When the highest One is yours, what lesser thing is left to fear?
The deeper layer

Fearlessness from belonging: "since You are my Lord and Master, what is there for me to fear?" When the highest One is yours, no lesser thing can frighten you. And there is no rival to praise — "without You, there is nothing at all".

A Question to Sit With

What fear loosens its grip when you remember who is really on your side?
