Listening to Your Words, O True Guru, my mind and body are cooled and soothed. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I live by beholding Your sight.

Listening to Your Words, true Guru, my mind and body are cooled and soothed.

Seeing what you love is life itself — and hearing true words cools the fever inside.
The deeper layer

The Pause: "I live by beholding the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan." Seeing the Beloved is life itself; and listening to the Guru's Words "cools and soothes" mind and body — the fever of restlessness eased again (cf. Shabad 100).

A Question to Sit With

What sight or sound cools and soothes you all the way through?
