That humble being, upon whom You bestow Your Grace, is not touched by slander or suffering. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

You are my shelter, You are my support; giving me Your hand, You protect me.

The one You grace is never touched by slander or suffering.

Held by the One, slander and suffering may come but cannot reach your core.
The deeper layer

The protected soul: "the one upon whom You bestow Your Grace, is not touched by slander or suffering." Not that hardship never comes, but that it cannot reach the core of the graced soul — slander and suffering glance off the one held by the One (cf. Shabad 132, the slandered Saints at peace).

A Question to Sit With

What gives a person a calm that hard words and hard times can't disturb?
